Hospitality English

The Hospitality English Programme will train practicing Hospitality executives and students studying Hospitality to master key vocabulary, sentence structures, pronunciation of professional terminology, communication and writing skills to effectively work in hotels or resorts that use English.

There are three modules. Each one of modules in the English for Hospitality Programme is designed and delivered by English teachers who are familiar with the challenges of working in world-class hotels, resorts and restaurants.

1. Programme Features

Specific – The English for Hospitality Programme is designed around the vocabulary, sentence structures and skills that Vietnamese hospitality executives need to successfully work in hotels or resorts that use English.

Industry relevant – Teaching, practice and skills will use material and language taken from topics related to booking a flight, booking a hotel room, calling for a taxi, checking into a hotel, ordering food at a restaurant, describing a place, giving travel tips etc.

Competency-based – We focus on developing specific competencies in 4 key language skills – Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing

Integrated – Grammar and Vocabulary are integrated into the learning of the 4 key language skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing

Concentrated – Students are exposed to extended interaction with native speaker teachers in class and at English Corner. These teachers closely supervise students’ learning to help them use English correctly.

Self-directed – Our special website eTeSL, iCan’s web-based window to the world’s best English language learning and practice resources, is available to all iCan students to use for further self-study.

2. Graduates of the programme will be able to

Master and use key terminology in the field of Hospitality

Read documents of hospitality and data and discuss the contents with confidence

Converse clearly and fluently at work with native English speakers on professional issues and topics

Draft clear, accurate and concise written reports, minutes, etc in English

Make presentations confidently at different kinds of proposals to different people – Board of Directors, investors, clients etc

3. Programme Information

  • - Schedule: Monday to Saturday
  • Programme Courses – The whole programme has 3 modules. Every module is 54 hours over 3 months.
  • Entry Requirement: IELTS 4.5 or its equivalent
